Commitment and a Positive Attitude Can Really Open Doors

Your favourite thing about Ireland?

My favourite thing about Ireland is the opportunity it gives people who work hard. In hospitality, showing commitment and a positive attitude can really open doors and allow you to grow professionally.

Your least favourite thing about Ireland?

Honestly, there are not many things I dislike about Ireland. The weather is different from my home country, but over time you adapt and learn to appreciate it as part of the experience of living here.

What inspired you to become a chef or work in catering?

I started my career in kitchens as a Kitchen Porter, and through hard work I was promoted to Commis Chef. This progression inspired me to continue developing my skills and pursue a career in the culinary industry.

Which areas of the training or your current job do you enjoy the most?

I really enjoy learning new techniques, working in high-volume kitchen environments, and being part of a team where collaboration is essential during service.

Which area(s) do you find most challenging?

At the beginning, the main challenges were the language and adapting to a fast-paced work environment, but with consistency and a positive attitude I have been able to overcome them.

Any long term goals?

My long-term goal is to continue progressing as a chef, gain more experience, and reach a higher position in the kitchen. I am especially motivated because my current company values my attitude and encourages me to grow with them.
